As expected after the AMD/ATI merger was solidified, Intel is saying bye bye to ATI's crossfire technology at their launch of the Core 2 Duo processor line. Up until now, it appeared that Core 2 Duo and Crossfire was a Intel/ATI match made in heaven, but Intel is now breaking this tie seemingly out of spite. You'll still be able to buy Crossfire boards for Core 2 Duo processors, but Intel isn't officially supporting it now. In addition, Nvidia SLI isn't yet working with Intel chipsets, so the situation is rather absurd. As usual, the consumers are the ones who lose out because of corporate feuds. The AMD/ATI merger is already showing its negative effects on the delicate balance of computer component corporations (especially CPU/GPU).
