AMD Barcelona Shows Up?

It seems that AMD's long awaited Barcelona core made have made its debut on seti@home. At BOICstats, there's a new CPU at the very top.  The CPU is listed as unknown AMD Althon, so it could very well be Barcelona.  If this is any indication of Barcelona's performance, we could see a 20% increase over Intel's Core2Duo.  This would be about the same performance increase Core2Duo had over AMD's X2 line.

Unfortunately, SETI@Home is only indicative of number crunching, and can be hacked to show better than actual performance numbers. However, should these number's hold up, it could mean very good things are to come for gamers and enthusiasts.

Below is a screenshot of the site, with the CPU in question highlighted.  Click on the thumbnail to see a full size version.

Over the weekend, myself, cofounder spurfan15, and another CSCI student competed in the USC p.24 programming content.  We didn't win anything, but we did end up creating a working program.  You can download the source code for our project here (released under BSD license), and you can also find the source code all of the other projects here.

Just a reminder: we aren't responsible for what this code does.  It shouldn't hurt anything, but all of this code is in a VERY early development stage.
